Industrial IoT using Radar motion detector module IPM-165 CDM324 Sensor with
Node MCU for automated Human detection cloud system with Blynk App
The Doppler effect, named after the Austrian physicist Christian Doppler who proposed it in 1842, describes the change in frequency observed by a stationary observer when the source of the frequency is moving. This holds true for all sorts of waves, such as water, light, radio, and sound.
When a wave source is moving relative to an observer, there will be a change in the observed frequency and wavelength. This is known as the Doppler effect, and a good example which demonstrates this is the change in the sound of an ambulance’s siren as it approaches and moves past you. As shown in the diagram, as the ambulance travels towards you the frequency of the waves is increased and the sound will be higher in pitch. Once the ambulance has passed you and is travelling away, the frequency of the waves decreases and the sound is lower in pitch.
CDM324 Sensor has Doppler radar which works by bouncing a microwave signal off a desired target and reading the frequency of the returned signal. By analysing how the target’s motion has altered the frequency of the transmitted signal, the target’s velocity can be measured.
The CDM324 Sensor is an active sensor and not a passive one like the Passive Infrared (PIR). It sends out microwaves at a frequency of about 24 GHz and measures the radiation that is reflected back.

The primary role of Radar motion detector module IPM-165 CDM324 Sensor is to provide accurate and real-time identification of human presence in the given location with consistence performance without any false alarms which could be detrimental. This data is crucial for maintaining the desired ambience lighting and air conditioning in the green building to conserve energy. This would ensure high productivity and very low fatigue.
Hence on periodic basis this data is uploaded to the cloud and made available to the concerned on mobile using different Apps.
Radar motion detector module IPM-165 CDM324 Sensor uses Radar motion detector data to adjust heating elements, Air conditioning, lighting in the premises to maintain a stable and precise comfort levels. This control process is essential for consistent productivity and energy efficiency. In case the temperature and lighting drops below a set value or increases beyond a set value immediately the notification will be sent to concerned through cloud.
For connecting Radar motion detector module IPM-165 CDM324 Sensor to the cloud, we need to connect Radar motion detector module to ESP8266 Node MCU using Pin 1 connected to Vin, Pin 3 to Ground and middle pin to ADC0. And provide internet connection to Node MCU to send the data to cloud. For this Node MCU must be coded and Apps must be installed both on Node MCU and mobile phones to which data needs to be sent.
